INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING THE CODAS SOFTWARE (1 July, 1997) The CODAS source code, libraries, executables, documentation and demo have been archived as size filename destination (bytes) 7023086 codas3.exe "PC" 9421659 codas3.sgi.Z "SGI" 8141931 codas3.sun.Z "SUN4,Solaris 1" 8508991 codas3.sol.Z "SUN5,Solaris 2.5" They are available via anonymous ftp. To obtain enter ftp noio.soest.hawaii.edu (or ftp 128.171.154.140) user: anonymous password: your email address, ie, caldwell@soest.hawaii.edu Then change directories to the subdirectory pub/codas3. (cd pub/codas3) The files should be transferred in binary mode. (IE. type 'binary', then type 'get filename' for the desired file as function of your machine (PC, SUN, SGI)). The archives are around ~8 Mb, and dearchive into roughly 15 Mb of disk space. To dearchive the Sun/SGI version: % zcat codas3.{sun,sgi}.Z | tar xvf - This will create a codas3 subdirectory in the current directory. To dearchive the PC version: C> codas3 -d For processing ADCP data, the user is referred to the demo in codas3/adcp/demo. More detailed descriptions of the programs themselves are in the source subdirectories. A more cohesive manual for ADCP Processing has recently been completed. The file is manual.ps. Also the user may also download the file opmeth.ps, which provides an overview of the processing. Both can be sent to a PostScript printer. Be sure to modify your search path to find the executables: UNIX: executables created by compiling c-code ./codas3/bin/sun4 (for the SunOS4.x) ./codas3/bin/sol2 (for the Solaris) ./codas3/bin/sgi (for the SGI) executable scripts ./codas3/bin/csh (for all unix) PC: executables created by compiling c-code .\codas3\bin\pc (for the PC) executable scripts .\codas3\bin\bat (for the PC) Note that an essential part of the ADCP Processing System requires the commercial program Matlab (by The Math Works, Inc.), which the user must acquire separately. The contour plotting program is also available by anonymous ftp from this site (contour.tar.Z) but only for the Sun workstation at the present time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Questions? \ / --()-- + Mr. Patrick Caldwell / \ |___ NODC Shipboard ADCP Center ______| o|_ Dept. of Oceanography \ / 1000 Pope Rd.
