    * Unable to reformat! The red indicator light stays on and I loose
      communication with the MPAK. I'm able to restart by disconnecting
      the battery and reconnecting. But, checking the flashdrive
      indicates that the files were not erased.
      
      Disconnecting for a few minutes.
      
      Still unable to reformat! Disconnecting for an hour.
      
      Finally able to reformat after multiple tries.
      - ready to calibrate

    * Initially had problems communicating with instrument. Error condition
      when connecting battery. Worked fine after the 3rd try.
    * The battery discharged during the end of the downcast of the 2nd 
      profile.


NOTE:
  Using the old charger helped a little. The MPAK battery managed to last 
  at least one profile.  It was sent back to WetLabs to have it's core
  replaced.
